July 2025 Model (Pro) Upgrade Release Notes

On July 31st 2025, a major system upgrade was released in ALICE Model (Pro).

This upgrade brings:

  • Faster performance across the board
  • Immediate access to new features previously exclusive to Optimize (Core)
  • A modernized architecture that enables us to deliver new functionality even faster going forward
  • Improved data interoperability between Model and Optimize

Key Changes

  • Some ALICE Optimize (Core) metrics are now used instead of ALICE Model (Pro) ones, which can potentially cause different solutions to be found for each scenario. However, the types of metrics used remains the same and no significant differences in results are expected.
  • Workdays calculation. In the Model Legacy calculation method, workdays were defined as the number of workdays when at least one crew is actively working on some task with respect to a task calendar. With the migration, workdays are now calculated using the same logic as ALICE Optimize (Core), aligning with Primavera P6 to ensure consistency and improve compatibility across platforms.
    • Specifically, the calculation measures the total number of working hours between the start of the first task and the end of the last task, then divides that by the number of working hours in a day. The calendar used for this calculation depends on task assignments:
      • if all tasks use the same calendar, that calendar is applied;
      • if tasks use multiple calendars, the project’s default calendar is used.
  • Criticality calculation is now unified across ALICE Model (Pro) and ALICE Optimize (Core). Model will adopt the Optimize approach, but resource precedence logic will remain ON by default to maintain current behavior. Users can switch it OFF using a toggle in the Analyze page if they prefer not to include resource logic in the critical path calculation.

Data Migration

  • After July 31st 2025, all newly created Model projects and plans will use the upgraded version of Model.
  • To bring a project into the new Model experience, duplicate the project and the newly created one will be in the new version of Model.
    • It's not possible to migrate solutions (dots) from the old Model experience to the upgraded one. You will need to re-run scenarios after duplicating the project.
  • Later this year, projects in the old Model experience will become 'view only' and you'll need to duplicate them to make future changes. This allows us to focus our development efforts on innovation rather than maintaining the old, deprecated version of Model indefinitely.
