Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback about ALICE! We have been listening and working to build the best product for construction planning and scheduling. Here are the improvements that have been completed in April:
What is New?
New features
Detailed Cost Breakdown: Have you ever wondered how your direct and idle costs are distributed between labor and equipment? The new analytics page shows this information.
Synchronized Cost Over Time Slider: Tired of squinting and eyeballing dollar values on your cost graph. How about a slider that shows you exactly where you are in the project, as well as exactly how much you’ve spent so far and on what?
Saturation Analysis Button: Saturation analyses (of different types) are done on every ALICE project. In this release, we’ve made running them easier than ever. One button now allows you to set all the resources of a certain type to infinity with the ability to undo and go back to the original configuration.
Apply Time Range Filters to Analytics Graphs: Have you ever wanted to explore a peak? Yes we’re talking about peaks in resource usage! You can now zoom in and out of interesting parts of your labor/material/equipment/cost curves using the time range controller!
Filter/Search the Tree: Filtering and Searching the model tree now also allows you to search tree nodes! This means that you can also search categories rather than just element names. In addition, the search bar is finally separated from the tabs, and the whole thing can be docked to the left if you’d like a bigger view of the model!
Milestones in Solution Cards: You can now see all your milestone dates straight from the explore page for each schedule without having to open the schedule.
Milestones in Schedule Comparison: Now you can compare schedules and compare milestones also straight from the explore page.
Other Improvements
40,000 Element Model Upload Limit: We now have a 40k element count limit on model uploads. This promotes better software performance as well as encourages customers to follow better modelling practices.
Ability to Delete/Copy in progress simulations: How about deleting a simulation before the 10-minute run-time is over? Or even better, copying simulation parameters before the run-time is over? You can now set up all your simulations in seconds and go grab a coffee while they run.
Ability to Cancel Simulation Run: Have you ever wanted to stop a simulation run before it is finished and keep the solutions you’ve gotten so far? You can totally do that now!
Sticky Dashboard Header: So you’ve decided to filter your projects AFTER you’ve already scrolled down, but you don’t feel like scrolling back up. The dashboard header now follows you wherever you go (within the list).
Dashboard Design Improvements: As part of the on-going refactoring of the ALICE platform, the dashboard design is now improved. The functionality is still the same.
Faster Deletion of Solution Sets: The average time it takes to delete a solution set is now improved from ~5 seconds to 0.5 seconds!
Message for Sharing Projects: We now have a message telling users that they can only invite other users from their organization in both locations where inviting collaborators is available.
Compare Schedules From the Same Run: Have you ever wondered how two schedules from the same simulation run stack up in terms of resource use? Well now you can simply check the parameters tab in compare schedules.
Invitations Management: Customers can now only invite collaborators from the same organization, but ALICE admins can invite anyone from any organization… and that’s just ONE of the perks of working at ALICE!
Updated Material Graph Curves: Material graphs now represent consumable material in a more usable way to the user as you can now visualize where material supply activities occur in your project timeline.
Improve Resource Graphs Presentation: The behavior and responsiveness of Resource graphs (especially cost over time) are now improved to support all sorts of window resizing so that you can get the most advantage of your screen real-estate.
Crane Usage Comparison improvement: You no longer need to refresh the page after every simulation to access crane data when comparing schedules.
User-Friendly Page Titles: Are you the kind of person who likes to keep multiple browser tabs open? Do you spend many seconds trying to find which tab you need to show during meetings? If you answered yes, to any of those questions, this improvement is for you (but not just for you, it’s actually for everyone including you)! You can now see a description of the page in the name of the browser tab!
New Plan List Design: As part of our initiative to modernize all parts of the platform, this plan list has a new design.
New Model Upload Design: Build on what can be done in the new plan list… Model upload now provides the user with more information on progress as well as the ability to cancel an upload.
