There are no hard limits with regards to model size, however, huge Building Information Models tend to become dysfunctional, hard to work with, and hence, hindering the whole process.
CIM Size
For any model selected for ALICE, there are some hard limits with regards to model size and a geometrical load of the elements in it. This helps with huge Building Information Models that tend to become dysfunctional, hard to work with, and hence, hindering the whole process.
In order to efficiently manage a project on the ALICE platform, please make sure your CIM meets these requirements:
- Model file size: < 1Gb
- Model elements count: < 40,000 elements
- Model Geometry Polygon count: ~ 1,000,000 polygons
Methods to control the model with these constraints are discussed in depth in CIM Development and CIM Simplification sections of our CIM Guideline series.
