Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback about ALICE! We have been listening and working to build the best generative construction simulation solution. Here are the improvements that have been completed in March:
New features
- Simple Schedule side-by-side comparison: Have you sometimes wanted to compare the sequence between two ALICE schedules side by side, in order to figure out why one is faster/cheaper than the other? This new feature allows you to do just that! Now you can compare two schedules side by side, and soon you will be able to use filters and compare the 4D views as well.
Note: Please keep in mind that this is a first release that will be improved over the coming weeks. Please provide us with feedback as we continue to work on this.
Detailed Comparison:
- Edit Calendar Assignments from Explore Page: You can finally edit calendar assignments for Crews straight from the Explore page. This removes the need to go back to the Plan page to evaluate workshift-based scenarios (ex: Overtime vs Staggered Shifts). This also allows users to check which Calendars were used by each crew in existing simulations.
- Set Milestone Constraints from Explore Page: You can finally set constraints (deadlines for end milestones and delivery dates for start milestones) right from the Explore page. This not only saves you the trouble of having to go back to the plan page to adjust those dates but also allows you to retroactively look at the constraints used in your past simulations.
- Show non-working times on Gantt: Have you previously looked at a blank space (or a stretched out activity) in your Gantt and had to think for some time before figuring out that this was due to non-working time? The non-working times are now clearly shown in the Gantt as the greyed-out zones (below).
Improvements
-
Disable editing existing simulation parameters: The resource parameters of existing simulations are no longer editable. This should remove any confusion regarding parameter values being outdated with respect to the displayed solutions.
-
Show long names in the connected tasks drop-down list: You can now hover over names that are too long to be fully displayed in the “connected tasks” drop-down list to see the full name of the operation or recipe.
-
Settings button design improvement: The settings buttons across the web app were updated to a more modern and consistent design.
