UDFs or Custom Properties are powerful tools in ALICE to control the construction data flow within ALICE and from other platforms such as Primavera P6, Autodesk, and Bentley applications.
Custom Properties allows users to import all necessary material quantities, cost code information, fixed durations, zone/building/level, and other BIM parameters that can be used for auto-grouping, organizing project WBS, and developing parametric recipes.
There are two options how to create Custom Properties in ALICE:
- Add Custom
- Import BIM
Add Custom
"Add Custom" is the option to create Custom Properties directly in ALICE.
To create Custom Properties:
- Select one or multiple elements and go to the Properties tab
- Click Add Custom
- Define the property's name on the left side, and value on the right side.
- Click the check sign or enter to finish the process.
Import BIM
"Import BIM" is the option to import the custom properties from the BIM model.
To Import Custom Properties:
- Select one or multiple elements and go to the Properties tab
- Click Import BIM
- From the opened window, find the necessary BIM parameter.
Note: mainly, they should be under the Element category
- Select one or multiple parameters and click Import Parameters
