Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback about ALICE! We have been listening and working to build the best generative construction simulation solution. Here are the improvements that have been completed in December:
New features
- Handle activities with missing actuals (from CSV upload): Say you’ve just received the actual start/finish dates of completed activities (or percent complete for in-progress activities) but didn’t receive the actual labor hours spent values. The upload CSV function can now handle the issue of missing data and infer those hours based on the task calendars. You will be notified via a confirmation message in case you prefer to re-upload the CSV with custom data.
- Benefits: This helps project managers and project controls managers not forget to input the data when it is available, but also avoid doing a lot of manual calculations when no calendar exceptions occurred during execution so that they can later access performance analytics that will surface execution issues.
Improvements
- Cost metrics use actual labor hours: So far we had been collecting actual vs budgeted labor hours and displaying that data in the “estimate reliability report” so that project managers can fine-tune their estimates moving forward. However, the cost implications of those deltas were not calculated in the project metrics. This is now improved so that the cost metrics, as well as the cost over time graphs, reflect the implications of those deltas. The CSV export of the Gantt will still only show the original costs as of now and will be updated in the future.
