Progress Updates

Progress Updates

ALICE supports updating task progress directly within the Plan page. This allows users to bring in a plan and modify progress data as part of the schedule optimization workflow and reduces the need to import updated schedules from other tools in order to reflect changes.

The following fields can be updated directly from the Plan page:

Single Field and Bulk Updates

To update status, progress or remaining duration one at a time, double click on the desired field on your Plan page. If you don’t see a column for these fields, click the settings cog in the upper right corner of the page, go to table columns and check to enable it on your Plan page view.

To bulk edit, click the checkboxes next to the tasks you want to edit, right click, then select Edit/Assign and choose the value you want to modify.

Task Status

  • Supported status options: Not Started / In Progress / Completed
  • Task status from Imported schedules map to Alice statuses on import
  • Progress percent complete and task status are bidirectionally linked.
    • Status auto-maps: 0% → Not Started, 1–99% → In Progress, 100% → Completed

Progress

  • Editable, range: 0–100
  • Bidirectionally linked to Remaining Duration and Actual Duration
  • Changing % Complete updates Remaining and Actual Duration automatically

Remaining Duration + Actual Duration

  • Remaining Duration can be updated directly
  • Linked to % progress
    • Remaining Duration = (1- progress) * (Remaining Duration + Actual Duration)
    • Actual Duration = (progress) * (Remaining Duration + Actual Duration)
  • 100% completion sets Remaining Duration to 0.
  • Finish date recalculates after user clicks Reschedule - not automatically when you edit progress.
  • At complete, duration remains the same, duration is distributed between remaining and actual based on progress.

Data Date

To change the data date, on the Plan page select the settings cog icon in the upper right corner. The data date field is under the general tab.

  • The data date format will comply with the date format selected under general settings.
    • If format = date only, the data date will only take a date.
    • If format = date and time, the data take will require a time input as well.
  • Data Date can only move forward - moving it backward is not permitted.
  • Data Date must stay within the project date range - cannot be set before the project start date or after the project end date.
  • Changes are made only on the plan you are working on - does not impact other plans in the project.
  • Reschedule remains explicit - user manually clicks Reschedule after changing Data Date; Alice does not auto-cascade CPM calculations.
